A Question For Spellcasters

Being someone who can't cast spells, I have always wondered what it is like. Is there some sort of feeling or emotion when using magic? Any sort of mantras or gestures? What is it like for you guys who can use magic?

I know this is a rather odd topic, but it is something I have always wanted to know.
If you need me to clarify or go into detail about anything, please feel free to ask.

I don’t think this is an odd topic at all! In fact I think this is a really good question and one that I am sure will have a lot of neat answers considering how varied and different magic is within the Cleft.

As far as my personal experience goes, it’s a little hard to explain but I will do my best. My magic is like a part of me much like an arm, or a leg… Though calling something like an invisible organ like the heart would probably be more accurate. Its not something I am constantly aware of unless I am concentrating or paying attention to it. And when I do, it is kind of like something that is reverberating throughout my body from deep within my core. It produces something like a ripple, which is why I refer to it as a mana pool even if that isn’t exactly accurate. That and casting tends to draw out a portion of it much like you are draining it of water. Others might have a different reason for calling it that.

I use gestures to guide, direct and form my casting off those ripples, but they are not necessary. It just feels more natural and comfortable for me to do things that way.

As for feelings and emotions, casting doesn’t produce any emotions for me, but my emotions at the time could have a positive or negative effect on things just like they do in every day life when you are preforming tasks, only maybe in a way that can be a great deal more dangerous or effectual to the things around you. It is why when I was in school, controlled emotion was one of the first things we focused on because concentration means stability, predictability, and adaptability. As for what it feels like to cast, its like extending a part of yourself into the world around you and that part of you is shaped in the spell you formed. That feeling lasts for however long I am using it.

its called a mana pool cuz the mana spirits r swimmin around in it laughing at us cuz we think were SO strong with our majickz. our magic is literally their piss because the mana goddess doesnt make them leave the pool to go do their business. when you see someone light someone else on fire, that is salamando taking a shit somewhere in barrel volcano. when someone douses that guy out with water, its undine puking in the pools filter because motherfucking gnome is bouncing around feeding people rock candy. sylphid is over there splashing mana at the other spirits and shade is cussing him out because hes a fuckin asshole. lumina is the goddamn lifeguard and when he tells you to slow the fuck down and walk around the mana pool then you better fuckin do it. when you see the moon at night its just luna bitching because the beast kingdom wont stop sacrificing shit to her so dryad just says fuck it im going to pedan, come spank my monkies if you need some herb. imagine what the mana spirits could do when they are actually trying!
